It’s 1:26am and on any other given Tuesday this Summer, I would’ve been asleep by like 10pm cause my butt would’ve had to been out of bed by 7am on Wednesday morning. But this semester’s over, so here I am.
I’ve been doing the same things every time I go to Miami, Florida and for once, I’m choosing to step out of my comfort zone, explore new things, keep track of what I’m going to do and how much money it’ll take, AND TAKE PICTURES.
So this is the plan -
Day 1: Depart from ATL at 4:30pm and arrive in FLL, which is cheaper/easier than flying into MIA, at 6:30pm. We still haven’t decided whether or not we want to rent a car, but the plan, as of right now, is to take an Uber to our hotel.
Night 1: Have dinner at La Sandwicherie in Brickell... they have the best sandwiches there and I typically get the same one every time, but this time I’ll be trying something completely different. From there, we will head over to El Tucán where my husband will DJ at. We have never been there so that’s going to be a completely different experience.
Day 2: You obviously don’t go to Miami and expect to wake up at 9am... so we’ll be having brunch at a place called Sugar Factory on Ocean Drive (Miami Beach). We’ve heard a lot of good things about this place and I love candy or just anything sweet in general, so this should be a great experience.
From there, we plan to visit the Perez Art Museum which has really good reviews on Google.
We’re going to end our day at Wyndwood Walls. We both really love this place and every time we visit, there’s something new to see.
Night 2: We plan to eat dinner at a restaurant in Miami Beach, Baoli, but if we decide we’re too tired to start the night so early, we’ll just order something simple to eat and relax in the hotel.
After we eat, we will go to Mynt Ultralounge which we haven’t been to in a pretty long time, but every time we go there we have a great time.
Day 3: This will probably be our favorite day of our trip. We will begin by having brunch at Dolores But You Can Call Me Lolita in Brickell and from there we will head to a port where we will get on a boat and spend the day at Nixon Sandbar.
Night 3: We will more than likely be extremely tired from spending the day in the sun. So we’ll probably end up having dinner at one of the Venezuelan restaurants that we love (Pepito’s Plaza, Don Glotón) and simply calling it a night.
Day 4: Begin our trip back home from FLL (9:30am) to ATL (11:30am). We made the decision to get such an early flight because we want to feel well rested enough to go back to work and school on Tuesday.
This is what we plan to spend -
Airfare: Because my mom works for Delta, I’ll be flying for free on standby, but my husband purchased a round trip ticket, departing and arriving at about the same time, through Spirit, for about $160... mind you, he did this some time in June.
Hotel: We will be staying at the Element near Miami International Airport for 3 nights for $285. We probably could've found something cheaper, but we like the location of the hotel as well as the hotel itself, so we decided to stick with this one.
Car: Whether we rent a car or use Uber, we plan to spend no more than $100.
Food: Because we want to explore new, high end restaurants, we will probably spend from $150 - $250 on food.
Museum(s): From what we've researched, the museums we'd like to visit are free.
Nightlife/Boat: $250 (roughly).
So we'll probably end up spending about $1,000 on this trip. While this may seem like much, keep in mind that we are 2 people and we are doing things completely out of the ordinary.
We plan to make the most out of this trip and I can't wait to tell you all about it once we get back.
Stick around, our next trip will be to New York City in November...
