You'll Always Have a Piece of Me; Miami, Fl

Updated: Jul 25, 2018

Miami will always carry a big piece of my heart;

I was born in Hialeah, Florida and if you know anything about Hialeah, you know that it's full of Latin's (especially Cubans). And I lived about 20 minutes away from Hialeah for about 12 years. So that right there should tell you a lot about me - I'm kind of loud, outgoing, I love to have fun, and Spanglish is the language I'm most familiar with.

Growing up in Miami;

Growing up in Miami was pretty cool... I went to an elementary school at which I was the class lawyer and the class clown, but I always made sure to get good grades. My parents and I became really close to my teachers and the administrators and I met people who ended up becoming my life long friends. It's kinda crazy if you think about it because I moved to DR and then moved to Georgia and I was able to always keep in contact with them (I even got some of them to move to Georgia... its just a better life style).

Do I really miss it that much?

Like I said, Georgia offers a better lifestyle. I mean, it can get pretty boring up here, especially for a 21 year old who's trying so hard to explore the world. But, honestly, there is no place like home.

Anyways, Miami is always fun- there is always something to do, new people to meet, but believe me when I tell you that things can get really hectic down there. I don't think the traffic can be compared to anything I've ever experienced. I can literally be 2 minutes away from Target, but if I'm on my way there at around 5pm (or any other time of the day to be completely honest), it'll take me about 30 minutes to get there. It's just really populated and even though I'm making that sound like a bad thing, it isn't (well, not all the time). How cool is it to be in a city in which people from ALL OVER the world come to visit or live in?

When I moved to DR, I'm not gonna lie, I really didn't miss Miami much... probably because I was 12 years old, in the 6th grade, involved in a ton of middle school drama (Miami is drama capital no matter how old you are). But since I've learned to keep my nose in my own business, I find myself going back to Miami like 5 or 6 times a year.

Maybe I miss it more than I think - maybe.

So here's to you Miami, a little piece of my childhood that will never, ever be forgotten (because I visit you so much).

Stick around... I'll be there on August 31st and I plan to visit new places and experience new things.
